One new coach will win 1st game

When Mesa Dobson plays host to Phoenix Mountain Pointe in the season opener for both schools  on Aug. 28, one coach will be getting his first victory at the school.

That’s because both schools have new coaches. Alex Jacobson, who left Sandy, Utah, to take over as Dobson’s coach, battles Xs and Os with Wickenburg transplant Norris Vaughan for Mountain Pointe.

Ten games involving local 5A schools are on tap that night, the first semi-large prep football evening for 2009.
