Westwood baseball winning when it counts

March 30th, 2009, 8:04 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Les Willsey

Mesa Westwood is still trying to reach the .500 mark this season, but the Warriors are pretty good right now at winning the games that matter.

Westwood’s 19-1 victory Monday over Phoenix Camelback lifted the Warriors to 5-8 overall. But their record in power-point games to date is 5-0. All eight of Westwood’s losses are in tournament games. Games upcoming for Westwood in the next week are against Phoenix Central, Chandler Basha and Phoenix Trevor Browne.  Most of its remaining games after that are against 5A East Valley Region foes Mesa Mountain View, Mesa Red Mountain, Mesa High and Mesa Dobson.  Only Mountain View among that group is currently over .500 for the season.
