For what it’s worth, this week’s ESPN high school magazine outlet, RISE, has Red Mountain softball ranked No. 6 in the country, and the Mountain Lions 11-0 start to the season doesn’t even make them the top-ranked team in the state.
Tucson Canyon Del Oro (12-0) is No. 2 in the country, led by Kenzie Fowler on the mound.
Phoenix Sunnyslope is No. 9 as a 4A Division I power, with Sierra Vista Buena (No. 23) and Peoria Sunrise Mountain (No. 24) also in the top 25.
Defending 5A-I champion Chandler Basha is 30th, Peoria Centennial is 41st and Phoenix St. Mary’s is No. 42.
