Christina Wirth, former Chandler Seton Catholic standout, and Kayla Pedersen, the former Mesa Red Mountain star, joined ASU in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA womens basketball tournament. Wirth, with 24 points and seven rebounds for Vanderbilt in its win over Kansas State, looked impressive. Pedersen, with nine rebounds and seven assists, helped feed the inside monster that Stanford is in vanquishing San Diego State. Just fun to watch former locals excel. Vanderbilt faces the Maryland-Utah winner on Saturday in Raleigh, N.C. Stanford faces Ohio State Saturday in Berkeley, Calif.
